Qi, Ligang:The CCP’s “deprivation of political rights”is a violation of human rights

When the CCP authorities impose sentences on certain criminals, especially the so-called political criminals, they often add a stipulation of “deprivation of political rights” for several years in addition to the sentence of several years.
According to the CCP’s criminal law, these political rights include the right to vote and stand for election, the right to hold public office in state organs, and the right to speak, publish, organize, and assemble.
These regulations of the CCP are a serious violation of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Because, according to these international human rights documents, citizens’ rights such as speech, publication, association, assembly, etc., are not deprivable political rights, but innate human rights, which are born to everyone and are strictly protected by national laws.
In other countries in the world, prisoners (including those on parole and probation) are usually deprived of their right to vote and hold public office, and no country's criminal law includes the right of speech, publication, assembly and association within the scope of deprivation.
The CCP's blatant deprivation of basic human rights as an additional penalty is a wanton violation of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
However, the Chinese people have no human rights in the first place, let alone political criminals, and no human rights are the norm.
