Liu,Zanchun: A public letter to President Obama
刘赞春(Liu,Zanchun)
Dear Preseident Obama,
My name is Liu,Zanchun, I am from Qingdao city, Shandong province, and I am a CDP member. This letter is to hope you can keep an eye on Chinese human rights poblems, and Chairman Hu,Jintao will have a state visit of US in Jan, 2011. Please tell Chairman to release imprisoned Liu,Xiaobo, who is the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize winner, and also calls on Chinese government to improve human rights when you meet Hu,Jintao.
Since I joined CDP publicly in Jan, 2010 in US, Chinese government had police sent to my home and threaten my parents, accusing I openly oppose Chinese government in the US and CCP will arrest me and sentence me in jail. The threat of CCP is only a portrit of persecutions for those who advocate democracy and human rights. Liu,Xiaobo, who won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize is a good example. He attended the “June forth” movement in 1989 and drafted “08 charter” on Dec 10, 2008, suggesting China to have political reform and change current one party dictatorship peacefully. However, Chinese government charged him with “inciting suvversion of state power” and sentenced him 11 years in prison in 2009. After Liu,Xiaobo won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize, Chinese governemnt block all news of his winning, and house arrest his wife, no allowing any Chinese citizen to attend the awarding ceremony which is open trample on human rights.
I like the free and democratic America. I hope respected President can exert pressure Chinese governemtn when meet Chinese Chairman Hu,Jintao, and request to release Liu,Xiaobo and other imprisoned democratic personnel, calls on Chinese governemtn to improve human rightsand not give up criticism at the cost of business interests.
I hope Mr. President can think about my request, and help China to build democracy and freedom. Thank you very much.
Liu,Zanchun
