Qu,Bo: Improving human rights in China relies on rule of law under judicial independence
曲波(Qu,Bo)
On human rights problems in China, Chinese government usually beat around the bush and touch on lightly, emphasizing on melioration of human rights on international occasions, finding excuses to prove Chinese people can enjoy wide human rights. Media under the control of government only reports positive news of human rights, as if no human rights problems exist in Chinese society. In fact, for Chinese people in mainland, a certain amount of people don’t know what human rights is, even when the government persecutes them, trample on their basic human rights, they don’t realize those are human rights problems.
Human rights means everyone has basic rights to survive and develop freely and equally or everyone has essential rights of freedom and fairness to survive and grow. It’s both an individual right and collective right.
Chinese constitution also has regulations assuring people’s rights, basic rights of citizens in the constitution manifest human rights, and regulations are detailed and all-round. Why regulations to assure human rights can’t guarantee basic human rights of the masses? The primary cause is Chinese society is ruled by men, and the constitution is only a speciosity and tools to lie and persecute people. Improving human rights in China not only relies on the constitution, the rule of law under judicial independence, but also carry them out down to earth, only when officials and common people are equal before the law can have basic condition to improve human rights.
