Zhao,Yingshun: Liu,Xiaobo is the new generation of spiritual leader for China’s democratic movements

The modern democratic movements in China experienced hesitations and oscillation, and finally met the new generation of spiritual leader, his name is Liu,Xiaobo.
A typical thing in human history is when a nation is in critical situation, outstanding leaders are needed to lead people out of the crisis, God is usually in time to create one. For example, during the three crisis in American history (Independence War, Civil War, and World War Two),
Three great Presidents appeared (Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt), so American today still appreciates divine providence of God.
China now is under historical social transformation, Liu,Xiaobo has distinct difference with other democratic personnel, and he might be the future spiritual leader for democratic movements in China. Firstly, after he won the Nobel Peace Prize, he became internationally recognized rep. of China democratic movements, and enjoyed global prestige, like what’s said in the eulogy, “Liu,Xiaobo has become the symbol and monument for the struggle of human rights in China.”
Secondly, Liu’s soft line can be accepted by most people as guideline for democratic movement. The “08 charter” he drafted claims to urge CCP truly actualize basic rights stipulated in the constitution through non violent means, and democratic requests (nationalized army, free election, judicial independence) CCP brought up during civil war in 1946-1949. These are self-claimed by CCP and are familiar to the public.
Thirdly, Liu,Xiaobo insisted on staying in China to take part in democratic movements, he stands right in the frontline of democratic movements, regardless of his personal and family safety, cries for rights and freedom, even at eh cost of imprisonment, all of which show his distinctive courage and devotion.
From an intellect to spiritual leader of democratic movements, Liu,Xiaobo faces important transformation. Life in prison doesn’t wile away his fighting will, but provide time for him to meditate. The nation, history, responsibility, destiny, these notions have significant meanings for Liu,Xiaobo. Destiny has already pushed Liu,Xiaobo to the forefront of the times, he should stand up, preparing for more responsibilities, leading democratic movements in China to success.
China is now experiencing the most important social transformation for thousands of years. From feudal autocratic society to modern democratic society, mission of democratic movements are very tough, even surpass overthrow of Qing dynasty a century ago. However, with leaders like Liu,Xiaobo, added with various democratic forces, and closely rely on the masses, China democratic movements will sweep all and are invincible.
