Li, Xi: Opening up freedom of speech is the prerequisite for people to say the truth
If people of one country have their freedom of speech, they can say the truth and speak their minds freely to all actions of government without any restrictions. In currently Chinese society, Chinese Communist government is very strict with people’s freedom of speech: it does not allow people to evaluate its work, to criticize its actions of violations of law and discipline, and even to establish any negative articles in the mass media; otherwise, those people will be arrested, imprisoned and persecuted by the reason of endangering social stability and unity; what’s more serious is that they will be treated with brutal repression by government using force in the name of “crime of subverting state power”.
People who live in democratic country enjoy and have sufficient freedom of speech is definitely integrity to society. On the contrary, if the social freedom of speech was restricted, people cannot say the truth, how to ensure people expressing integrity to society? When someone asks your opinions about society, what can you say? What do you dare to say?
Today’s Chinese Communist government compels you to say things against your will, how can this kind of society be an honest one? Therefore, opening up freedom of speech is the prerequisite for people to say the truth in Chinese society.
