Seven representatives of the detained Hubei workers

At 14:00 on May 3, 2007. Seven union representatives from Wuhan JianEr Department Store, Hubei Province called Skynet China human rights center to report their continue unlawful detention by HuBei authorities.

At 3:30 yesterday afternoon, Hubei Beijing Office transferred the 7 representatives from Tiananmen Square police station to unit 4 at ShuiTouNanLiJia in FengTai, Beijing, which is 2 kilometers away from LiZe Road. Their detention was extended in the new location. During the detention, Head of Complaints Bureau of QingShanQu, HuBei had conversation with the 7 people. Later, secretary of Mr. Liu head of Complaints Bureau Mr. Hu, ZhiJun had conversation with them again. The main concern of the conversation is to send them home.

Meanwhile, Li ZhongHua husband of the representative Ms. Qin, SuQin also called the Chinese Skynet Human Rights Center. Mr. Li said this is the 4th petition in BeiJing. They have been fooled by local government for the past several years. The local authority simply ignores their petition. After their 2nd petition in Beijing, their family members were threatened. Local authority started monitoring them 24 hours a day. One bird-pet fed by Ms. Qin was killed as revenge.

Today at 4:50 PM, the 7 representatives called Chinese Skynet Human Rights Center: The 7 representatives had started a hunger strike for 7 hours, they will not return home without their problems being resolved. They are determined to continue the hunger strike in Beijing even scarifying their lives in order to protect hundreds of workers legal rights and interests of the Wuhan JianEr Department Store. They are willing to protect the dignity of the national law for the price of their lives.

China Skynet Human Rights Center will continue the report on the rights protection movement of Wuhan JianEr Department Store workers, provide legal assistance when needed.
