Wang, Yi:Who Is the Real “Capitalist” Country

It is often heard some people in China commit suicide due to unaffordable education fees while others are driven out of the hospital due to unaffordable medical expenses. Today’s China has become a money society. Money is more worshipped in China than in America or other western countries.

Before coming to America, I thought America is a capitalist country and relation among people is purely monetary and emotionless, the poor people live “miserable lives and in hunger and coldness”. After being in America, I found things are different here. The government provides various welfare and aid programs. Even the poorest people maintain the basic living standard. People need not worry about education or medical expenses. If they meet the low income family requirements, they can receive free services. Even non-citizen foreigners and illegal immigrants can enjoy such services.

What impressed most was last year when my wife was laboring. Because we are low income family, medical fees were all waived, and more than that, the government offers food coupons and infant food supplies, which is impossible in China. No hospitals in China will accept you if you are without money. A friend of mine who is a doctor in China told me: “Many poor people in China can not afford hospital fees, they send their wives to individual or unlicensed doctors.Due to lack of experience and poor medical conditions there,
some women die during labor. The government never blames itself, instead it blames the incompetent doctors, imposes fine on them or put them into prison.

It is the government’s duty to ensure everyone can afford education and medical fees. Schools do not admit poor students and hospitals do not accept poor patients. The fault is not in the schools or hospitals. The government should be responsible for this. Schools and hospitals have to do this in order to survive. If American government does not support the schools and hospitals, can they survive themselves? Therefore, it is my opinion that it is the Chinese government fault.

Some people say that America is wealthier than China. I think It is true American people are wealthy, but compared with the Chinese government, American government is very poor. Chinese government owns a large number of state-owned enterprises while American governments hardly owns any; Chinese government has a huge money reserve of over a trillion US dollars, the 2nd largest in the world, while American government often goes deficit; office buildings of American government is only developing country level compared with Chinese government office buildings; American officials are only poor  beggars  compared with rich and arrogantChinese officials, let alone the scale of staff and corruptions in the Chinese government. Therefore, the Chinese government is not poor. A foreigner friend said: Chinese government is not only very rich but also very mean, willing to share a little money on its citizens. The so called “get from the people and use on the people” is by no means governing policies of the Chinese government.

This is not strange. Chinese government is not elected by the people, so it has to use a lot of money to maintain its rules and suppress the reactionaries; buying the conscience of its hugs costs a lot of money; make more people to pretend not to see and enjoy “the harmony society” Have to spend some money. What is left is in name to be used to help the poor people. This money is deducted at each level of government and becomes insignificant into the hands of those that need it and they have to thank the government a thousand times. Such is the reality in China.

How miserable the Chinese people are! With a greedy government, the poor people in China are even more miserable, because it is also a mean government. Today, it is but CCP’s China that is a true “Capitalist” country.
