CDPWU Assembled In Front of UN Headquarter
Launching Donations to Aid CDP Party Member Chi, Jianwei
At 11:00 A.M. in the morning of January 23, 2007, more than 70 China Democracy Party (CDP) party members gathered in front of the UN Headquarter to donate and aid their fellow party member Chi, Jianwei and strongly demand that Chinese Communist Party (CCP) immediately release all imprisoned CDP party members. Mr. Wang Jun , Chairman of CDPWU delivered a speech at the meeting.
Chi, Jianwei was born in Hangzhou in 1962. He is of Han nationality and graduated from senior high school. Mr. Chi began working in Hangzhou Zhang Xiaoquan Scissors Factory in December 1980 and resigned in December 1989. He was hired by China Ping An Insurance Company Hangzhou, Marketing Department in August, 1996. He joined CDP Zhejiang Preparatory Committee on October 20, 1999 and became unemployed ever since. At the beginning of 2000, Chi, Jianwei, and Ren, Weiren, Lai, Jinbiao, Xiao, Libin, and Wang, Fuhua established Hangzhou’s Hyde Park and delivered speeches in Wushan and No. 1 Park to the unemployed and retired workers and tourists spreading democracy, freedom and human rights ideals. After the democratic activist, Zhu, Yufu was freed from jail in September 2000. Chi, Jianwei vigorously supported Zhu, Yufu and requested the authority to renew Zhu’s employment. Mr. Chi was punished and revenged because of this. On October 19, 2006, the police searched Chi’s residence. After his stock of Fa Lun Gong leaflets and Nine Comments on CCP discs were found, Chi, Jianwei was put into the criminal detention. On November 21, 2006, Chi was officially arrested in the name of “Making Use of Heresy to Impede Enforcement of Law”, and is now imprisoned in Hangshou Yuhang Prison. His relatives and friends call on domestic and foreign powers of justice to support in harmony to rescue Chi, Jianwei.

CDPWU Chairman, Wang, Jun expressed at today’s meeting: Currently speaking, Mr. Chi, Jianwei was the first CDP party member who has ever been imprisoned because of Fa Lun Gong. He is imprisoned not only for Fa Lun Gong, but for people all over China, and for the cause of democracy, freedom and human rights in China as well. Mr. Chi is a CDP party member. What he has been doing are democratic activities, human right activities and law education activities, and has nothing to do with “Making Use of Heresy to Impede Enforcement of Law”. Such a crime is both political persecution and an insult to Mr. Chi’s noble dignity. Mr. Wang, Jun called on all CDP members to actively make donations for Mr. Chi, Jianwei and to learn from Mr. Chi, Jainwei, to fear no violence and march forward and struggle for the establishment of a democratic China.
