Yang, Jun: How a Corruption Country Was Made
China communist once preached about democracy and freedom, opposed autocracy and dictatorship and corruption, and it was the main force in opposing such in the society before it came into power. However, after it came into power, in a short period of 50 years or more, China communist made a corruption country that no other could compare in history, domestic and abroad.
The Chinese people, after experienced thousands of years feudalist torture, has to accept this bitter fate once again. The 89’ student movement, though failed heroically with blood shed on Tiananmen Square, symbolized the wake up of a nation, symbolizing the nation’s call for democracy and freedom. Obviously its great significance is far-reaching than the May4th movement that China communist commemorates every year; and June4th will definitely lead China to 2 extremes: either a democracy and freedom China, or a more dictatorial tyranny by the ruling class. June4th is the peak period that Chinese people longed for democracy and freedom.
However, things will go to its opposite. After democracy and freedom became foam, dictatorial rule and corruption greeted its new spring. In front of the threat of superpower, Cynics became popular among ordinary people and social morale and ethics degraded; and the semi-failure of social reform made people ignoring politics and began to pursue profit in life.
