Zhang, Zhi: Where is the Way for China’s Cultural Relics?

We often read from the media that many ancient relics have been unearthed by fishermen or private companies near China inner sea or domestic rivers, and the government concerned department does not perform a timely or efficient work on protecting those ancient relics, and the reason given is that the government invested too less money and too few people on that.

One report says that China only has a team of 44-men for under water ancient relics work, and the average cost for each project is 6 million yuan RMB, about $800,000. It really sounds expensive for the work, considering China economy is still developing, and it must be very difficult for the government to invest huge money on such things.

On the other side report says that China economy keeps its growth continuously in recent years, and foreign trade benefit year after year, and its foreign currency reserve has reached $1000billion.

This may lead to people question: if China really has money to save and protect those ancient relics being destroyed? The answer is definite: yes. China’s finance is strictly controlled by the communist government, and it would spend large sum of money on strengthening its rule only, not on something else. For example: in order to bribe the military force, the

government increased armymen’s salary year after year; in order to improve its military position in Asia, China communist spent huge sum of money on purchasing military equipment and buildup carriers plan, etc. China communist will not spend a penny on things, like relics protection, it believes unworthy to do.

China communist cares only its safety, not the whole Chinese nation’s interest. During the cultural revolution China communist destroyed culture and tradition only for its political purpose, and now it still cares nothing about relics protection. For example, the great wall that represents the whole Chinese nation is now suffering damage greatly: in Gansu, Shaanxi province, the great wall part is flooded by water for years, and in some area, bricks from the great wall are sold as commodity freely, and the communist government does not take any measures to protect it till date.

It is sad and angry to think that so many rich ancient relics being damaged while China communist government takes no actions to protect them, and we also worry about the future of the great Chinese culture.
