President Bush has reviewed his strategy for Iraq with top military commanders and national security advisors, but has indicated little inclination he will make any major changes.

Mr. Bush said in his Saturday radio address that his goal of victory in Iraq is clear and unchanging. He says U.S. commanders will make changes necessary in their tactics to prevail.

The New York Times quotes some U.S. officials as saying the Bush Administration is drafting a timetable for the Iraqi government to disarm sectarian militias and meet other political and economic goals.

A White House statement discounts the article in Sunday's newspaper as being inaccurate, but does not specify the inaccuracies.

Meanwhile, the Arabic news channel al-Jazeera quotes senior U.S. official Alberto Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department, as saying the United States had shown "arrogance" and "stupidity" in Iraq. Asked about the report, U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said the quotes issued by al-Jazeera on its Web site are not an accurate reflection of what he said.

The Web site also quotes the official, speaking in Arabic from Washington, as saying the United States tried to do its best in Iraq but, left much room for criticism.
