Authorities say the first bomb exploded during the morning rush hour Wednesday near a police station in eastern Baghdad. That attack killed 14 people, including three policemen, and wounded nearly 60 others.
Also in eastern Baghdad, another car bomb exploded near a police patrol, killing at least eight people and wounding nearly 20 others.
Separately, Iraqi Interior Ministry officials say the bodies of 60 men who were bound, tortured and shot to death were found overnight in the capital.
All apparently were victims of death squads motivated by sectarian disputes. Such killings have continued despite a massive security crackdown in Baghdad that began weeks ago, when large numbers of American and Iraqi troops were brought in to reinforce police in the capital.
Meanwhile, the lead prosecutor in the trial of former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is asking the chief judge to step down. The prosecutor complains the jurist has repeatedly failed to control outbursts in court by the defendants and their lawyers.
Chief judge Abdullah al-Amiri did not respond directly to the complaint. However, he said he has tried during his 25-year judicial career to give equal treatment to both the defense and the prosecution in cases that come before him.
Saddam and six co-defendants are accused of ordering the killing of tens of thousands of Iraqi Kurds during the 1980s.
Prosecutors say Saddam's military offensive - known as the Anfal campaign - killed more than 180,000 Kurdish civilians.
