Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) came to power, the absence of a democratic electoral system has meant that officials at all levels hold office for extended periods; they meticulously groom their offspring to inherit their privileged status.
These so-called "Red Second Generation" figures have established formidable influence across politics, the military, state-owned enterprises, and the business sector, often colluding with one another in illicit alliances.
Furthermore, while there is no explicit rule stating that official posts are hereditary, power can be expanded laterally; officials at all levels can openly promote and appoint their own relatives to key positions.
For instance, a news report revealed that the wife, eldest daughter, second daughter, and son of a CCP municipal party committee＇s Organization Department head worked, respectively, at the Municipal Finance Bureau, the Municipal Party Committee Office, the Municipal Court, and the Municipal Tax Bureau.
Meanwhile, his eldest son-in-law, second son-in-law, daughter-in-law, nephew, and niece held positions at the Municipal Public Security Bureau, the Municipal Health Bureau, the Municipal Procuratorate, the Municipal Power Supply Bureau, and the Municipal Land and Resources Bureau.
Such situations are ubiquitous in the officialdom of mainland China, creating numerous "petty family fiefdoms" and local despots; the system has become even more family-centric, corrupt, and dark than in the feudal era.
