Wang, Ting: China Is Currently in the Darkness Before Dawn

Since the founding of the People＇s Republic, the CCP has gone through three distinct stages. The first stage was the era of former CCP Chairman Mao Zedong—a period defined by political struggle. It began with the suppression of "landlords, rich peasants, counter-revolutionaries, bad elements, and rightists," and subsequently shifted into brutal internal purges and ruthless intra-Party criticism and struggle. This continued until the nation was impoverished and in decline, with its economy teetering on the brink of collapse.
The second stage was the era of the later CCP leader Deng Xiaoping—a period characterized by the maintenance of the CCP’s party-state political autocracy alongside the encouragement of economic development.
Long-suppressed productive forces were unleashed, and the vast majority of Chinese people lifted themselves out of poverty to achieve prosperity. However, the absence of democracy and the rule of law allowed corrupt officials to run rampant; sharp divisions emerged between the rich and the poor, and social tensions reached a point where they were on the verge of a volcanic eruption.
The CCP is currently in its third stage: domestically, it has reverted to personal dictatorship and intensified censorship and repression; internationally, it pursues military and diplomatic expansionism and positions itself as an adversary to the civilized world, plunging China back into darkness.
Yet, I believe this is merely the darkness before the dawn. The tide of history is unstoppable, and I trust that China will one day return to the mainstream of human civilization.
The Chinese people must strive for this.
