Wang, Ting: Chinese Law Is Merely a Tool of the CCP

To mislead the public, the CCP frequently speaks of implementing the so-called "rule of law" and even lists the rule of law as a goal in the construction of socialist civilization.
However, the CCP’s version of the rule of law is not the rule of law found in Western liberal democratic systems; rather, it is merely a tool for the CCP’s one-party dictatorship—a fig leaf for its autocratic rule.
CCP leaders have stated that the law is simply the "handle of the knife" held by the Party, and that Party leadership must stand above the law.
This is because the Communist Party is the ruling party and the core force leading the nation; while the Party’s "Four Cardinal Principles" of governance remain immutable, laws can be changed.
Consequently, the CCP can place itself above the law, enacting laws and abolishing them at will.
Such a stance completely violates the fundamental norms of modern civilized society.
As a political organization, the Communist Party must operate within the confines of the law; it can never stand above it. This argument by the CCP essentially conveys the message that the Communist Party can act with total lawlessness, free from any constraints; its will is the law, and the CCP itself constitutes the rules by which the country is governed.
