The political history of the post-war world shows that the occurrence of a country＇s democratic transition is related to the country＇s socio-economic development level. Low-income countries seldom undergo democratic transitions, middle-income countries experience the most democratic transitions, and most high-income countries have completed democratic transitions and become democracies.
Therefore, this phenomenon is mainly due to the fact that in low-income countries, people mainly pursue basic food and clothing, and their requirements for human rights and democracy are not very urgent.
However, in middle-income countries, where people’s food and clothing problems have been solved, they have higher requirements, such as freedom of speech, democratic politics, etc. At this time, it is easy for mass movements to promote democratic transformation.
There is no precedent in history for a middle-income autocratic country to become a high-income autocratic country without a democratic transition.
Now, mainland China is already a middle-income country, and democratic transition is inevitable. It is also very difficult for the CCP authorities to become a wealthy and civilized country while maintaining autocracy.
Therefore, the realization of a democratic China is inevitable. China Democracy Party members should redouble their efforts!
