To protest against the local government’s deduction of teacher bonuses, more than 6,000 primary and secondary school teachers in Nanpan City, Guizhou Province went on strike.
They gathered on their respective campuses, holding slogans or banners such as "The government does not believe in words," "Protect the legitimate rights and interests of teachers", and went to the city government to protest.
The teachers pointed out in the joint protest book that the education department did not believe it and cut the teacher bonus by half for no reason.
Teachers used petitions and letters to ask the government for explanations, but they were kicked out by various departments for various reasons, and they were even ignored.
Out of patience, they had to fight for the rights of teachers by way of a strike.
The local government and the Bureau of Education made a strong statement for this: no matter what the reason, it is wrong to strike a class, and holding a protest rally violates the school's disciplinary regulations, and teachers must be punished.
This approach is inconsistent with the Chinese Constitution that allows free assembly. The teachers said they would not give in, and must insist on fighting to the end.
I hope that Chinese governments at all levels can act in accordance with the law, try to avoid social conflicts, so that teachers can teach with peace of mind and the people can live a happy life.
