Protest against Chinese Communist Government taking advantage of “Protect Diaoyu Island” incident to create social unrest

On Oct. 2, 2012 at 11:00 am, around 200 China Democracy Party members gather in front from Chinese consulate general in NY to launch a rally of “Protest against Chinese Communist Government taking Advantage of ‘Protect Diaoyu Island’ to Create Social Unrest”. The Chairman of China Democracy Party and President of China Democracy Journal, Wang Jun attends the rally and delivers an important speech.

Protecting the integrity of a country’s sovereignty and territorial is a solemn duty of a government, and the Chinese people’s participation of “Protect Diaoyu Island” activity concretely demonstrates people’s patriotism. However, the Communist Government takes advantage of the “Protect Diaoyu Island” incident to create social unrest, and arrests part of anti-Japan demonstrators. We China Democracy Party members protest against the Communist government’s such conduct.

According to Japanese media, Japanese government already made a sales agreement with Kurihara family to “purchase” the Diaoyu Island, and will officially transfer the ownership of the Diaoyu Island as well as other 3 islands around at the price of 2.05 billion yen. The Japanese media Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Sep. 5 that several Japanese government officials confirmed on Sep. 4 that the Japanese government already made a sales agreement with Kurihara family to “purchase” the Diaoyu Island, and the central government will directly “nationalize” the island, skipping the Tokyo metropolitan government’s jurisdiction, which lead by Shintaro Ishihara. It is said that the Japanese government will “buy” the main island, the south islet and the north islet, in total of 3. The Japanese government will not build facilities like ships dock area or lighthouse around the island to maintain its current situation. The Japanese government also hopes to strengthen the “actual right to control” through the “nationalization” of the island.

As to the Japanese government’s action to “purchase” the Diaoyu island, the Chinese government and the public have reacted strongly, China’s vice premier Li Keqiang made a statement on the day of the “purchase” that the Diaoyu island has been a part of Chinese territory from ancient times, China will firmly defend its sovereignty over the island. On the same day, China’s defense ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng said that, the Chinese army firmly opposes and protests against the Japanese government to nationalize the Diaoyu Island, and the army will closely watch the developments, to reserve the rights to take reaction. China’s Xinhua News Agency reports that, two maritime surveillance vessels, “Maritime surveillance 46” and “Maritime surveillance 49”, have reached the peripheral waters of the island, and the maritime surveillance department claims that action plans have been made, to protect China’s legal rights and to claim the sovereignty.

Within only few days, the Chinese government launches “Protect Diaoyu Island” action with the rapid growth of anti-Japanese sentiment. On Sep. 15, people in more than 10 big cities participate in the “Protect Diaoyu Island” anti-Japanese demonstration, protecting against the Japanese government’s claim of sovereignty over the Diaoyu Island as well as its control over the island. Later on, several violent incidents emerged in some cities, on Sep 16, the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, and Chengdu break out anti-Japanese demonstrations again, among which in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the demonstrations go out of control, and the demonstrators rushed into the Guangzhou Garden Hotel to smash; the conflict between demonstrators and riot police erupts in Shenzhen, people gather out of the Shenzhen municipal government, urging the government to release the demonstrators, some even attack the municipal building and throw rocks to the police, and the police expel the people by using spontoon, the scene of which is a chaos that causes many people getting hurt to bleed. The police use tear gas and high pressure water column to expel the people in the rallies. The demonstrators cast bottles and smoked cans toward the police, some pull up the plants in the roadside to fight back, and some even turn over several police cars. As to these violent incidents, some Medias and analysts conclude that, because of the prevailing corruption to the Communist Party, people complain a lot, so that the anti-Japanese sentiment gradually becomes anti-Communist government demonstrations.

China Democracy Party advocates the Communist government to rethink its behavior towards the people who participated in the demonstrations and to review the drawback of the one-party ruling, launching a peaceful and incremental democratic political reform

The Chairman of China Democracy Party and President of China Democracy Journal, Wang Jun speaks in the rally, where he says that, although many Chinese people complain about the one-party autocracy of the Communist government, and they oppose violent rule and corruption, they all hope for a stable society. Even though there are many problems in the current government, social unrest would cause damages to the people. The Chinese government started with good intention to protect the country’s integrity of the sovereignty and territory, to arouse the people participating in the “Protect Diaoyu Island” action; people started with a good hope to launch anti-Japanese demonstrations, thus some radical actions are understandable. As the ruling party, the Communist Party should concerns the interests of the people, and tries its best to protect people’s interests and basic human rights, in order to gain the trust from the people by building a clean and effective government. In fact, the Communist government has lost people’s confidence because of its longtime high pressure ruling, persecution to people, and trampling on human rights. Under such circumstance, some people show their dissatisfaction towards the Communist government amid anti-Japanese demonstrations, and some cities emerge incidents that people besieging government buildings.

Wang Jun points out that, the phenomenon of besieging government buildings by the people does not mean that the people had lost their minds, neither they were took advantaged by overseas powers or got incited by others. The actions of “Protect the Diaoyu Island” and the Anti-Japanese demonstrations is only the fuse that ignites Chinese people’s passion and anger, and it exposes the conflicts in Chinese society and the incompetent of the government, as well as the disadvantages of the longtime one-party ruling. Current Chinese economy is still going down, and the phenomenon of corruption is getting severe, the gap between the rich and the poor keeps widening, which causes people seethed and leads the people to let off steam by “Protect Diaoyu Island” action and Anti-Japanese demonstration. As the ruling party, the Communist Party should face the reality and to begin dialogue with the people, rather than using high pressure and violence to them, let alone arresting demonstrators.

Wang Jun also states that, as to the “Protect Diaoyu Island” and Anti-Japanese demonstrations, the Communist government is responsible to correctly guide the people’s behavior, do not let the demonstrations turn to social unrest, do not disturb the people’s life and work, and do not bring unstable factors to world peace. China Democracy Party advocates the Communist government to rethink its behavior towards the people who participated in the demonstrations and to review the drawback of the one-party ruling, launching a peaceful and incremental democratic political reform, in order to push China on the road of democratic freedom, human rights and rule of law under the multiple parties holding office in rotation system.

Several China Democracy Party members speak in the rally. The Chairman Wang Jun leads the crowd to shout slogans, “Protect the County’s Sovereignty!” , “Protect the integrity of territory!” “Oppose the violent suppression!” “End the one-party autocracy!” “Build a democratic China!” before the protest ended.
