Li, Xilong: Don’t politicize house churches

Event of house churches is a matter of management approach for government managing department to people believing Christian in essence. Government department looks forward to bringing house churches into its public administration, wishing to control all the things, to the contrary, house churches hope to achieve more liberty. The essential of house churches is not to overthrow state or change political or social system to destroy national unity. What house churches want is freedom of religion, meaning have own church organizations, location, and as for politics, it is not included in house churches’ attention.
In term of matter of house churches, government should normalize and adjust by necessary laws; if always take suppressed measures, the matter may be intensified and up to political matter and social matter, and even push Christians to the opposite to government.
If government’s aim is to clean up house churches and that means to fight with religion; there are so many rulers and governments fighting to religion in the history, but none of them succeed. Religion is the base of social stability, and if give up it, that will mean drawing ruin upon itself. It’s necessary to seek truth from facts and consider about “religious styles” of the matter and not talk about the matter away from Christians’ belief demands for the settlement of religious matter. Or religious matter will be politicized and the property of the matter will be changed; all of these violate CCP’s promise of freedom of worship.
