22nd Commemoration of June 4th students’ demonstrations in 1989 by NY democracy movement organizations and groups
On June 2, 2011 afternoon, between 1PM and 3PM, several democracy movement organizations and groups gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in New York for the 22nd commemoration of June 4th students’ demonstrations in 1989. This activity was jointly organized by China Democracy Party, Liberty Democracy Party of China, China Democracy Journal and China Democracy Forum. China Democracy Party Chairman, China Democracy Journal Proprietor Wang, Jun and Liberty Democracy Party of China Chairman Ni, Yuxian jointly hosted the gathering.
Before the start of the gathering, China Democracy Party Chairman, China Democracy Journal Proprietor Wang, Jun led all participants sing the 2 songs to commemorate June 4th demonstrations in 1989: “The Song of 1989” and the “The Historic Wounds”. Afterwards, Mr. Ni, Yuxian, Mr. Wang, Jun, Mr. Zheng, Kexue, etc spoke at the gathering.
Speakers thought that it has been 22 year since the June 4th massacre. The core problem is that the Chinese military troops killed the Chinese people and that whether the Chinese military troops can be nationalized relates to the future of the country and the people. Today, we commemorate the June 4th massacre in 1989 by gathering together. Although, it has become history, we should seriously face this history. A country, a nation, or a political party should have the courage to face the history. Back then, the Chinese Communist authorities ordered military troops and murdered unarmed fellow Chinese with tanks and machine guns. Even a child would know it was wrong, how could the Chinese Communist government justify it was right?
Many people went through the June 4th massacre in 1989; it was not true when the Chinese Communist said they didn’t fire or kill a single person. Several participants stated that they saw the military troops and tanks marched into Beijing urban area and into Tian’anmen Square; many saw military people fire their guns. A lady said that back then we hadn’t graduated yet and many students went to protest on the streets to supports the hunger strike in Beijing requesting anti-corruption and asking for governmental reforms. We were supported by people.

Back then, it was brutal. After June 4th massacre, under the killing threats from the government, most Chinese kept quiet. Some even thought that the participating students went cross the line and it was desperate of the government to repress the movement. Some people even pathetically stated that they supported the party. Being forgetful and cold-blooded is the national personality. In the past half of century, especially after the economy of China was boosted, all Chinese Communist senior officials repeat the same sentence when being asked by media: the nature of the movement was defined already. This shows the hypocritical the Chinese Communist government is. All levels of the communist government have avoided the massacre. After the massacre, few national senior politicians mentioned about this massacre.
Speakers at the gathering thought that in the past 22 years, under the Chinese Communist dictatorship, with the money-oriented concept, many Chinese forgot about June 4th massacre; for them, June 4th has become a historic label and very few mentioned about this hurtful topic. After 22 years, Chinese who have been stimulated by modern way of life will rarely reach out a helping hand to those who were killed during June 4th. Very few will commemorate June 4th; forgetful and cowardly people have left the June 4th movement behind. China has entered the vicious cycle of moral collapse. This is the tragedy for China.
Chinese living abroad gathered in front of the Chinese Consulate in NY for the 22nd commemoration of June 4th movement in 1989 and strongly requested the Chinese government to face the massacre and not to forget about June 4th and history; they have to investigate the massacre and hold people responsible and give the truth back to all people; we strongly request the Chinese government to stop persecution , unconditionally release all political prisoners, carry out political reforms and give the country back to the people so that China could continue on a healthy and harmonious path to democracy and liberty.
