Rally of “Strongly Request the Chinese government to stop persecuting dissidents” held at the White House

May 11, 2011, 2:30PM, more than 150 China Democracy Party members held a rally at the White House in Washington DC strongly requesting that Chinese government should stop persecuting dissidents and urge U.S government and global society to continuously focus on human rights situation in China. Ms, Ge, Lifang, representative from Chinese League of Victims attended the rally.

Hilary Clinton, Secretary of State spoke on April 8, 2011 when “2010 Country Reports on Human Rights” was published. Hilary stated that U.S worried about three growing trends: 1, comprehensive suppression on social activists; 2, violation of freedom of speech, gathering and social group due to the deprivation of free access of internet; 3, suppression on vulnerable minorities, including homosexuals, bisexuals and transsexuals. When speaking of the human rights situation in China, she directly pointed out that in the first quarter of 2011, there is a deteriorating trend of suppression in China; U.S is deeply concerned about the human rights report of China.

China Democracy Party opposes all political suppression and trampling of human rights; it also urges the U.S government and global society to honor the promise of improving human rights.

Mr. Wang, Jun, chairman of China Democracy Party and propriety of China Democracy Journal spoke at the rally at the White House that after the Jasmine Revolution, the Chinese government started panicking. The government and the officials have avoided commenting of the Middle East. This has made all who are concerned about democracy and freedom worried since the Chinese government has been against its promise regarding human rights. The surveillance of dissidents has been more intensive after the Jasmine Revolution; many famous dissidents have been arrested, kept in the house and disappeared. On March 25, 2011, China Democracy Party member Mr. Liu, Xianbin was sentenced 10 years of imprisonment under the charge of “inciting subversion of state power”; Just after 1 week, on April 2nd, Ai, Weiwei, the famous artist and dissident was arrested at Beijing Airport under the charge of “economical crime”. On April 11, only 9 days later, Zhu, Yufu, the main leader of China Democracy Party was arrested for “inciting subversion of state power”. The brutal facts have proved that it is frightening how the Chinese government trample human rights and also reminded us that a huge price has been paid to safeguard human rights.

Wang, Jun stated that the request of improving basic human rights from Chinese people has made the Chinese government nervous. The human rights situation cannot be improved unless political reform can be implemented. Not long ago, Chinese and U.S conducted high-level human rights conversations and the purpose was to improve human rights. At that day, China Democracy Party rallied at the White House again and urged U.S government and global society to push the government to realize its promise to improve human rights. China Democracy Party opposes all political suppression or trampling human rights; it hopes that the Chinese government could react to improve human rights and immediately release China Democracy Party members Wang, Bingzhang, Liu, Xianbin, Zhu, Yufu, etc and also dissidents, human rights activists and religious people, such as Liu, Xiaobo, Ai, Weiwei, etc.
