Dear UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon:
Your position as the UN Secretary General is a huge encouragement for Asia people to fight for freedom and democracy. You are from South Korea where the stable democratic system just established not long ago, and you know clearly the defects of autocratic system. In addition, democratic movements in South Korea in the 1980s once encouraged democratic movements in China. Asia peoples especially the Chinese people who live under the communist tyranny place high hopes on your role in maintaining international human rights.
You were familiar with Chinese issues back when you were in the UN General Assembly. But we still want to remind you of continued oppression for freedom of the press and civil liberty when China held the 2008 Olympics. At the time when the countdown of Beijing Olympics began, Chinese government insanely banned different voices and oppositions, oppressed CDP members, dissidents, people who maintain legal rights, and religious people, tried to prevent independent media reports instead of granting more personal freedom to CDP members, dissidents, people who maintain legal rights, and religious people. That’s because the Chinese government feared its people to talk about political and social problems, government officials only cared about their own interests, and involved in corruption under all sorts of pretexts.
The “Human Rights Watch” which is headquartered in New York pointed out that though China loosened restrictions on interviews of foreign media, it relatively strengthened oppression for domestic media and internet comments. Chinese authority strengthened oppression on dissidents and media with different opinions. To prepare for the Beijing Olympics, Chinese authority demolished many houses and didn’t compensate them appropriately, human rights of migrant workers were violated, and protestors suffered serious persecution and oppression. In addition, The famous retired military doctor Jiang,Yanyong who exposed SARS disease was banned from leaving the country and couldn’t obtain prize.
What’s more, as the chairman of China Democracy Party World Union, I currently live in New York in the United States, and received death threat letters from CCP in June and July this year and I called the New York police. Here in the United States I had death threats just because I and my organization advocate for democracy in China. Is it because we want to end the one party dictatorship of CCP and establish a democratic China? The incidents were true and I have police records as evidence. Phone threats and damages of China Democracy party website hasn’t stopped in recent years.
But we believe that a democratic China conforms to historical trend! The autocratic regime of CCP can’t stop the trend! Chinese people will own democracy, freedom, and human rights! Therefore we write to you, as a leader in international society, we hope you can pay close attention to deteriorated human rights in China. We also hope that you can demand the Chinese government to release all imprisoned CDP members, dissidents, people who safeguard legal rights, and religious people! Families of victims will appreciate your efforts! Chinese people will appreciate your efforts!
When I received the two death threats, most CDP members in Zhejiang province were arrested by CCP. Like Zhu,yufu was sentenced two years in prison, Chi,Jianwei was sentenced three years in prison, Chen,Shuqing was sentenced four years in prison, Lv,Gengsong was arrested for “inciting subversion of state power” and “illegal holding of secrets”. They suffered the same as democrats in South Korea, but more severe as such crimes can be sentenced life imprisonment and death penalty. We hold rallies in front of the Chinese Consulate General facing oppression by CCP. For example, On August 30, 2007, we held a rally of “Donate and rescue detained CDP member Chen,Shuqing, and request to release him immediately” in front of the Chinese Consulate General.
Continued deterioration of human rights conditions in China has caused worldwide concern. At the 64th Venice Film Festival on September 3, American actor Richard Gere also called for Chinese government to improve human rights before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and stop persecution of the people. He said, human rights records in China are very poor, problems in China should be brought up to international society for discussion. Olympic is a good opportunity to encourage China to stop trample on human rights in Tibet and let people living in the Himalayan Mountains to determine their own future.
As the Secretary General of the UN, you are one of the most influential people in the world, and you should step forward bravely and speak for the vulnerable. We expect you to exert influence on Chinese government, and compel them to improve human rights conditions in China. For example, you can forward this letter to rep. of the People’s Republic of China to the UN, your small action is sure to improve conditions of many innocent prisoners in Chinese prisons, let persecuted prisoners free from prison and reunion with families. They, their families and all CDP members will appreciate you and history will record your kindly deeds.

Wang,Bingzhang
In June, 1998: he took charge of the Commissioner of China Democracy Party Overseas Commission and Consultant of Work Councils.
In Feb. 2000, He took charge of the consultant of China Democracy Overseas Headquarters.
On June 27, 2002, Doctor Wang and three other people were kidnapped from Vietnam to China Mainland.
On Feb. 10, 2003, Doctor Wang was questioned under the extreme unfairness and secrete, he was entitled with three criminals such as Taiwan Spy, International Terror Schemer and violently overthrowing CCP Regime Publisher and was sentenced for life imprisonment.
Wang,Sen
Sen Wang is the leader of China Democracy Party, Sichuan branch. On Nov. 23, 2000, in Dazhou city, Sichuan Province, more than 5,000 workers of Qinghua Copper General Factory protest against government’s stopping production. The factory resigned workers unconditionally, the protest activities suffered suppression and couples of worker representatives were arrested.
On December 2000, Sen Wang led CDP members in Sichuan and posted protests all over the Dazhou Streets, requiring unconditionally of setting free work representatives. He was sentenced for 10 years by CCP. Presently Wang, Sen is in prison.

Xu,Wanping
In 1989, he participated in “June 4” democracy movement and after “June 4” massacre, he built up Chinese Activity Party and was sentenced for 8 years and deprived political rights for 5 years.
In October 1998, he set up Chinese Democracy Party and was arrest and he was sent to labor reeducation for 3 years.
On Dec 23, 2005, famous democrat Xu,Wanping was sentenced 12 years for “inciting subversion of state power”. For democracy, rule of law, improvement of human rights, Xu,Wanping was in prison for 11 years.

Lv,Gengsong
Mr. Gengsong Lv, member of China Democracy Party, notable dissident and writer. He is a native of Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province. He graduated from Department of History of Hang Zhou University (Now is Zhejiang University). Gengsong Lv recently has done a lot rights defending work. Gengsong Lv was criminally detained and officially arrested by CCP authorities due to “Inciting and Overthrowing State Power” and "Illegally Holding Nation’s Secret.”
Chi,Jianwei
Born in 1962, Han ethnic, graduated from high school.
In Dec 1980, he worked in Zhang,Xiaoquan scissor factory in Hangzhou, and quit in Dec 1989.
In August 1996, he worked at marketing dept. in Pingan Insurance Company in Hangzhou.
On Oct 20, 1999, he took part in Zhengjiang Organizing Committee of CDP, he was discharged and unemployed. From 2006, Ren,Weiren, Lai,Jinbiao, Xiao,Libin, Wang,Fuhua opened “Haide park” in Hangzhou, and made speech in Wushan, Yigong area, advocated democracy, freedom, and human rights ideas to laid-off workers, retired workers, and tourists.
On Oct 19,2006, police searched his home, and found Falun Gong materials and CD of “Nine criticism of CCP”, police in Zhe,Jiang province arrested Mr. Chi,Jianwei.
On March 27, 2007, Chi,Jianwei was sentenced three years in prison for “obstructing legal enforcement with evil cults”.

Chen,Shuqing
In July 1998, he took part in Zhengjiang Organizing Committee of CDP.
On Sept 24, 1999, after Wu,Yilong, Zhu,Yufu were arrested, Chen,Shuqing took over the work and in charge of National Organizing Committee of CDP. On Oct 17, 2006, CDP member Chen,Shuqing was officially arrested with “inciting subversion of state power”.
On August 16, 2007, CCP sentenced four years in prison.

Zhu,Yufu
In June, 1998, He actively dedicated to preparatory work. On Nov.8, he was elected as Zhejiang Preparatory Committee of China Democratic Party Secretary-General of the Working Group Executive, the National Preparatory Committee. He was sentenced seven years in prison with “inciting subversion of state power” in 1999, he was released on Sept 14, 2006 but was arrested again on Oct 26, 2006.
Qin,Yongmin
In Sept1998, Qin,Yongmin, Chen,Zhonghe, Lv,Xinhua, Ren,Qiuguang, Xiao,Shichang, Liu,Feiyue and Gao,jinqin openly established “China Democracy Party Hubei organizing committee” and registered for the name.
On Dec. 1st, 1998, two policemen from Wuhan city went to his father’s home, and said they officially arrested Qin,Yongmin for “subverting state power”; On Dec. 17, 1998, intermediate court in Wuhan city held court. On Dec. 22, 1998, Qin,Yongmin was sentenced 12 years in prison, deprived political rights for 3 years, and imprisoned in Hanyang prison.
Yang,Zili
On May 28, 2003, CDP member Yang,Zili was sentenced eight years with subversion of state power, deprived two years of political rights. He is currently detained in the secondary prison in Beijing.

Chen,Zhonghe
CDP member, male, born in 1948, place of domicile: Wuhan, Hubei province. In Sept 1998, CDP was officially established in Hubei province, he was the chairman of CDP in Hubei province. On July 7,2000, he was sentenced 7 years in prison with subversion of state power.
Mao,Qingxiang
On June 25, 1999, CDP leader of Zhejiang Organizing Committee Mao,Qingxiang was arrested by Hangzhou police, in Zhejiang.
On Dec 18, 1999, he was sentenced eight years in prison with subversion of state power.
Sep. 14, 2007. Mao, Qingxiang, one of the CDP founders, who was sentenced for 8 years due to “Overthrowing State Power”, was set free.

Cha,Jianguo
In Nov 1999, he established CDP branch in Tianjin with Xu,Wenli, Gao,Hongming, and was vice president.
In Feb 1999, he established CDP joint headquarter with Gao,Hongming, amended “CDP joint headquarter rules”, and appointed as spokesman.
On July 30, 1999, he was arrested by police in Beijing, and was sentenced 9 years in prison with subversion of state power on August 2.
Zhang,Lin
In June 1986, He was sentenced for 2 years because he led democracy movement in Northern Anhui and issued speeches.
In May 1994, He was sent to educate for 3 years in Anhui Province, because he participated in democratic movements.
In September 1997, after serving out his time in jail, he got visa to United States.
In October 1998, Zhang, Lin returned to China to devote himself to Chinese democracy career. In the second day, he was captured and sent to educate for 3 years.

Ning,Xianhua
In Sept 1998, Ning,Xianhua, Wang,Zechen, Wang,Wenjiang, Liu,Shizun, Kong,Youping established Liaoning branch of CDP. He was drafted as the vice president of Liaoning branch, chairman of Shenyang branch. During the time he and his colleges published a letter to President Jiang, statement of hunger strike, and other activities. He demanded to push forward democratic politics, end the one party regime of CCP, release imprisoned CDP members, and reevaluate June 4 movement. On May 30, 1999, he was arrested for organizing the 10th anniversary of June 4 movement at municipal square in Shenyang.

Gao,Zhisheng
In August 2008, he established “Zhi Sheng Attorneys at Law” in Beijing.
On Dec. 31, 2004, he accepted the Weian Huang’s case (member of Falun) and wrote first public statement to Congress, becoming the worldwide deer. On Sep. 28, he became the counsel for lawyer of Guo, Feixiong arrested in Taishi Village.
On Oct. 18, 2005, he flied to Shandong to visit Guangcheng Chen, and investigated Shandong Falun case. He wrote the second public statement to Hu, Jintao and Wen, Jiabao.
On Sep.20, 2007, he wrote the public statement to senators in U.S. Congress, appeal to paying attention to Chinese human rights persecution concerning Beijing Olympics, especially for Falun members’ persecution.
On Sep.23, 2007, Gao, Zhisheng was secretly taken away by CCP authority and till now we hear nothing from him.
Chen,Guangcheng
Chen,Guangcheng was born in 1971 in Dongshigu village, Linyi city, Shandong province. He studied in Qingdao blind school from 1994 to 1998. He studied in Nanjing Chinese medical university from 1998 to 2001.
Chen,Guangcehng couple visited America as visiting scholars from July to August in 2003.
In Jan 2005, Chen,Guangcheng carried out projects of safeguarding legal rights in Shandong supported by NED. In Dec, he was nominated the “2005 Men of the Year” by Hong Kong Asia weekly newspaper.
On March 11, 2006, Chen,Guangcheng was taken away from home by police and lost contact with outside world.
On August 24, 2006, Linyi local court sentenced him four years and three months in prison with “malicious destruction of property and mass disruption of traffic”.
Guo,Feixiong
Yang,Maodong, pen name Guo,Feixiong, author, scholar, male, 39, born on August 2, 1966 in Gucheng county, Hubei province, his parents were sent to the countryside for 9 years in his childhood. Guo,Feixiong went to the frontline of safeguarding legal rights and reported folk movements many times, including movements in Fuoshan, Guangdong province, famous movement in Taishi village, Yuwotou county, Fanyu district, Guangdong. He was on list of “2005 Men of the Year” by Hong Kong Asia weekly newspaper.
On Sept 30, 2007, CCP officially arrested him.
Ye,Guozhu
Between May 2003 to April 2004, Ye,Guozhu went to Beijing Municipal Party Committee, the Central commission for discipline inspection, the Supreme People＇s Procuratorate, and foreign embassies and shouted slogans, held banners.
On Dec 18, 2004, He was sentenced four years in prison with “causing disturbances”, his families and defense lawyer thought it’s not justified, and the sentenced was totally wrong.
Yan,Zhengxue
On April 13, 2007, CCP considered famous artist Yan,Zhengxue committed subversion of state power and sentenced him 3 years in prison and deprived political rights for 1 year.
Yang,Yunbiao
Yang,Yunbiao, famous person who safeguard legal rights in Hangzhou, he fought against the rape case, at 4:30 pm on August 23, 2007, his case was sentenced in West Lake court. He was sentenced 2 years for interference with public function.
Hu,Shigen
Sex: Male. DOB: Sept 3, 1954.
Education: bachelor degree in department of Chinese language and literature at Peking University in 1983, master’s degree in department of Chinese language and literature at Peking University in 1986. Instructor at Beijing Language College.
Arrest date: Detained on May 27, 1992, arrested at Sept 27.
Arrest reason: He established the Organizing committee of Chinese free union, drafted outlines, rules and publicity material; he organized Memorizing the June 4 activity, managed counter-revolutionary organization and committed crime of counterrevolutionary propaganda and incitement.
Sentence date: On Dec 16, 1994(trial of first instance), On June 14, 1995(trial of second instance).
Sentence: twenty years imprisonment, deprival of political rights for 5 years.
Li,Hong
Original name Zhang,Jianhong, famous for his bold speeches. On Sept 6, 2006, he was taken away from home by police. On Sept 7, he was detained for “inciting subversion of state power. On Oct 12, he was arrested. At 9:30 am on Jan 12, 2007, the Secondary Court in Ningbo secretly held hearings of Li,Hong’s case.
At 3:00 pm on March 19, 2007, the Secondary Court in Ningbo pronounced judgment for his case, he committed inciting subversion of state power and sentenced 6 years in prison, deprived political rights for 1 year.
